Ffaw 5/20/15 – Facing the Fear

Looking at it from this distance, it seems like a normal gazebo in the middle of a park. For her, it is the place where her life changed. About 10 years ago, she was walking through the park at twilight enjoying the scent of spring, listening to the birds chirping and feeling wonderful. She saw the gazebo and decided to go sit underneath and enjoy the beautiful weather.

She sat down and closed her eyes and enjoyed the feel of the wind on her face and then a shadow darkened in front of her. When she opened her eyes, a man with a ski mask was standing there and before she could scream, he covered her mouth and took her innocence.

It’s been 10 years and the memory still haunts her dreams, day and night. She came here today with her fiancee to face her fear. This will be the last time she visits this place and this memory. It’s time to move forward.

  1. Some people take a very long time to get over incidents like this and she was very brave to face the gazebo again. With her fiance’s support she can now move on with her life. Well told. 🙂
